About the Order

The Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre from Chorzow

An important event that shows medieval traditions connected with the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre in our city was establishment in 2007 Historical and Cultural Association called The Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre in Chorzow.

The above mentioned association is aimed at: propagating material culture and historical knowledge about medieval Europe, particularly Silesia with Chorzow, and connected with the town, The Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, maintaining traditions of the knights among teenagers, presenting costumes and medieval customs, participating in protection of tangible assets and charities in Chorzow.
The development of interests of the members of this association in the field of history, culture and a legendary world of the medieval centuries as well as the roots of the contemporary fabulous science fiction.
An association attaches great value to cooperation with other orders of the knights in Silesia, and outside Poland. The order is concerned with reconstruction of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre from the second part of the 13th century.
An association accomplishes its objectives by: arranging and participating in the knights’ tournaments, exhibitions of historical white weaponry, arranging scientific sessions, not only connected with the history of the Middle Ages.
An association also runs, teaching and educational classes. The order participates in secular and religious celebrations connected with our town, Chorzow.
Within the framework of the order, operates a Group of Old Music- St Francis, and an ensemble of dance ( medieval dances ), take place in the workshops of fencing and archery. Everybody who is interested in these disciplines can participate in them.

At present The Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, consists of 60 members, among them are: town councilmen from Chorzow, a university lecturers from Silesian University, headmasters and teachers from schools in Chorzow, kindergartens, students, pupils from our town and the neighbouring towns.
A honourable patronage over the order from Chorzow in 2007 assumed vice president of Chorzow dr Joachim Otte and Polish Historical Association, branch in Katowice.
Dr Adam Lisek is the chairman of the order, Bartłomiej Brzozowski is a vice-president, Katarzyna Lisek is a secretary, Ryszard Blasinsky is the treasurer.

We sincerely invite everyone who is passionate about the Middle Ages to have fun with us at this cooperation.
